america helping america does not help no matter where you are, I just called due to a electric bill that has hit $1800 and I’m going to be shut off on May 17th 2012 and she said they did not have any help for this area!! so depressing, I dont know what to do
i’ve been to every place in this town,Mt.Pleasant,iowa,churches,community action every place i can think of,nothing,and just today my landlord tells me i’m gonna have to find a new place to live,how..i have no money whatsoever to move with my 4 kids.any suggestions.please help.
this is what i go through everyday, so you can see exactly why i am in a bad way, and why i am so frazzled all the time. I broke my ankle in 1997, but my problems did not start there, it was in high school, when i sprained my ankle so bad i tore all the ligaments and tendons. but i did not know that, nor did the doctors. when i broke my ankle, they found i had no tendons in my ankle, and my tendons were tore, so i had an ankle reconstruction surgery on my right ankle, and ever since then i have been in severe pain. i wake up everyday, with pain, i do not sleep well at night because of the pain. i am tempermental because of it. i am unable to walk very far, nor stand on my feet for long periods of time. i have had several tests run on me, and so far every one of them have come back normal or negative, which is starting to wear down my mental state. i am in constant pain, and there is no explanation as to why. so if i seem a bit frazzled, or upset, that is why. being in pain all the time makes you less likely to think things through before you say them, and i have on more than one occasion put my foot in my mouth. especially with my fiance. and she has been on the brunt of some of my anger, but she understands what i am going through, even though her parents don’t care, nor do they want to understand what i am dealing with everyday of the week. being unable to find or keep a job has made me feel like a failure of a father and a family man. i am at risk of losing my daughter because the power company is going to shut my power off, and dhs has told me they will take my daughter if that happens. if i lose her, i will lose what little mental control i have left.
I am disabled and get social security disability and SSI. That only amounts to $691. per month. My Electric,Water,Computer is all about to be turned off. My mortage is $375. a month, The car I had to have is $177.50 every 2 weeks.That leaves me with deciding which bill I can pay.. I hate that I’m in this situation and need help but I am.How can I get the help I need without feeling like I’m scum of the earth.I have Fibromyalgia and scoliosis.I have always worked hard since I was 15 and at 59 I am in this situation and no where to turn. I pray there is someone who can help me get out from under all these final notices.I feel so helpless and no where to turn.

I just don’t know where else to turn. My Husband got laid off March 3, 2011. And has been looking for work ever since with no luck. Places just don’t want people over 50. We have a house full, it is me, my Husband, our Son his Wife, there 3 kid’s 5, 3, and 2 months, and our Daughter. Our water bill is past due and they are going to turn our water off any day now. We owe them 470.00, Our car insurance is past due for 120.00 they are going to cancel that, and we need some food. There just doesn’t seem like there is an end to it. Please we need help fast. Hey, I owe 340.48 on my water bill which is past due they will be out Monday to turn it off if i don’t pay. I haven’t started my new job cant start until the 19th.I have 3 kids and no money. Hi i stay in las vegas nv. My boyfriend just lost is job and we have a four month old baby.I have to pay my bill have a 48hour shut off notice. I made a payment plan an myd i still cant pay bill.. I been around every where I have everiy paper they ask for but if it not on thing its the other. I been to place the only 62 and older the other i have to have housing and foodstamps.I have none i just made my rent for this month. I really dont want my light cut off cuz we stay in vegas and right now its hot 98-110. I can go with out it but son is four months old.
Pat , I think it`s wonderful the way you have made it a part of your life to help people! I wish more people cared the way you do! I`ve always tried to do right by everyone and I can`t understand why I have been through so much! I could right a book about what I have been through! A psychologist once told me I should! I went to one when my dad was diagnosed with cancer, and my boyfriend died from brain cancer! I could go on and on! I went to an attorney and called a couple more of them! I can`t get any help from anyone! I was really hurt and no one will help me! I don`t even have a lifestyle anymore! I would love to take a warm shower; because cold water causes me so much pain! I also have primary lymphedema! I wish I could work! I`m truly thinking of writing a book about my life! I`m getting off the subject here! Thank You for caring about people! I am going to try getting our heat back on and pray we don`t lose our electric too! I have been calling in vain to get our gas back on. We haven`t had hot water since May! I am lifting big pots of hot water; and I had surgery about a year and a half ago! I went into have ovarian tumors removed and him possibly doing my hernia! Well I found out I had six hernias and a complete hysterectomy and if the doctor hadn`t put his finger in first; he would have went straight through my aorta. I only knew I had one hernia; from my c-section. He told me I was full of holes! He said he never saw anything like it! They had to call in a second surgeon! Ihad a bad fall at wal-mart on Christmas Eve.a couple of years ago! I was walking in the door and their were puddles big puddles everywhere it had been raining all day! I tried to walk where it was the driest and I took one small step and slid. I must have used every muscle not to fall and I was so relieved and said Thank You Jesus! I took one more small step and slid and down I went. Ididn`t know how bad I was hurt until Christmas day! The day affter Christmas I went to see my own doctor; and he screamed and yelled at me for not going to the E.R. He kept telling me I was screwed and wouldn`t get a dime! I just wanted to know if I was OK! I found out later he won`t deal with any accidents and doesn`t even put it down on record. I think that is where I got my other 5 hernias! He wouldn`t even do an x-ray for me! Ican barely walk; it affected my hands ,I can`t turn my head and I never sto hurting! I feel so guilty that we can`t pay our bills! We don`t go anywhere or buy anything and we still can`t pay our bills. Thank You Pat for caring about people; we need someone like you I need to get my gas back on because my daughter has bronchitus; she throws up when she coughs! These cold showers aren`t helping anybody! I have called every organization I `ve been told to call! It`s going to start getting cold soon!Thanks again, Deborah

Since the accident occurred on a wet floor at a place of business, and you were seen by a doctor for the injuries, try calling FindLegalHelp at (800) 285-2221 to see if they can offer you any advice.
You can call to ask them about legal questions. And they help low-income people find volunteer lawyers who are willing to handle cases for free.
The lawyers are usually experts in the types of problems that poor client most often encounter.
I had a list but most of these people are booked up until june.some need 5 months of pay stubs and so much explaining of budget it was degrading. also these place are booked b4 the month eve start.
Sorry you are having such a difficult time.
It can very frustrating and discouraging when you need to look to others to help pay your bills.
Many places seem to have ridiculous “eligibility” requirements.
Most charitable organizations don’t seem to have so many requirements.
Keep looking.
Be sure to check for local community resources, and always ask for referrals.
